MSSA Announcements and New Call for Conference Papers

Greetings everyone!   Although all manner of summer activities may beckon, I imagine that most of us are very much hard at work.  So, I’ve attempted to make this set of announcements quick.

  • First, the new membership, membership renewal and 2012 MSSA Annual Conference registration form (all one form) is now available on the website (Membership and Conference Form 2012-13).  Please print this out and send it in with your payment as soon as possible.  Remember, in order to remain on the program for the conference, your dues and registration must be received by September 15, 2012.
  • Second, in order to further increase the visibility of the organization, I have begun to move the MSSA Facebook presence from a “group” (which is typically not available for public viewing/input) to a “page” which allows for a wider audience.  In conjunction with the webpage, it will be a place where members and non-members alike can get information about the organization and its activities.  When you have an opportunity, please seek out the page (www.facebook.com/MidSouthSoc).  If you have ideas for content, I’d be very interested in hearing them; please feel free to contact me there on FB.  The previously established “group” will remain active for now, but as a place where somewhat less public conversations can occur.
  • Finally, and perhaps most important, I wanted to direct your attention to the latest call for papers.  There are still sessions with room for presenters, and we’d like to see those sessions as full as possible.  The full call for papers can be found at the website (2012 Annual Conference).  However, for quick access I’ve included the list of organizers and their contact email addresses below.  The Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel will be a wonderful setting for what should be a very exciting and stimulating conference.  Please encourage your colleagues and students to join you at the conference.
    If you are interested in presenting in a session please forward a submission form (see attachment) and an abstract of your paper directly to the organizer identified below.  The organizer will inform you about the acceptance of your paper.  If you are unable to locate an appropriate session below please forward your paper to: Earl Wright II (earl.wright@uc.edu)

  1. A colleague and I would like to submit a paper for presentation consideration. If accepted, only one of us will be able to attend the Conference to present the paper (to include Conference Registration and MSSA Membership). In order to appear in the Program, do co-authors also have to meet the Registration and Membership requirements?

    • No. We only need one of you to attend. As long as the presenting author pre-registers for the conference you will be good to go.
